The History
One of the best aspects of Port Royal is the historical elements found throughout the community. During the Civil War, Confederate troops were defeated by Union forces who established Fort Sherman at the center of the community.
The construction of this fort, and the events after that, has left Port Royal with a treasure trove of historical artifacts and sites throughout the area. Living here, there are many preserved areas waiting to become part of your daily routine!
The Homes
Port Royal features beautiful homes both inland and on the beach. With 886 single-family homes on offer, there are also a selection of undeveloped lots for those who want to build their dream home from scratch. The mix here is between older and newer homes, beach houses, and full-time residences (with no short-term rentals on offer).
The Lifestyle
Port Royal Plantation has beaches fronting the Atlantic Ocean, as well as Port Royal Sound. Featuring walkable paths right down to the sandy shores of the Atlantic, these beaches have a nice, secluded feel to them.
After spending some time by the water, you can retreat to the arboretum, head to the pool to cool off some more, go fishing, or tackle any one of the leisure paths in the area. There’s even a brand new community beach house, slated to be done by the end of 2018.
Golfers also have their choice of courses – the Barony, Robbers Row, or Planters Row to sharpen their skills. There’s an endless array of opportunities to have some fun, and take a load off, at the same time.
